ABOUT
Born in a humble hamlet in Andhra Pradesh and raised in Neyveli, Radhakrishna began his vocal stream of musical education at the age of eight under Sri C.S.Anandamani, nephew of the illustrious Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar, and simultaneously trained under Neyveli S.Vimala for violin. Violin virtuoso Kalaimamani Ramanathapuram Sri M.N.Ganesa Pillai took Radhakrishna under his wing for over a decade. Later violin maestro, Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri M.Chandrasekaran groomed him, honing his concert skills.Radhakrishna holds Master’s Degree in Indian music with distinction.
Radhakrishna has teamed up with the cream of Carnatic musicians, notably Dr.N.Ramani, T.V.Gopalakrishnan, Ravikiran, T.K.Govindarao, T.N.Seshagopalan, O.S.Thiagarajan, Kadri Gopalnath, SudhaRaghunathan, Sowmya and percussion giants T.K.Murthy, Vellore Ramabadran, Umayalpuram Sivaraman, Trichy Sankaran, Yella Venkateswara Rao,Guruvayur Durai, Srimushnam Rajarao, Haridwaramangalam A.K. Palanivel, Tanjore Govindarajan, Tanmoy Bose and drums Sivamani.
Radhakrishna was privileged to participate in the musical odyssey of Bharat Ratna, legendary Pandit Ravishankar’s Festival of India II and III across US and Canada, performing in most prestigious halls like Stern Auditorium-Carnegie Hall, New York, Walt Disney Concert Hall- Los Angeles, Boston Symphony Hall, Chicago Symphony Hall, Baltimore Symphony Hall, Zellerbach Auditorium, University of California at Berkeley, Roy Thomson Hall-Toronto, Canada, earning encomiums.
COLLABORATIONS
Globe trotter Radhakrishna has absorbed local genres as seen from his eclectic violin. In multi-cultural projects he has jammed with Western music giants Jonas Hellborg (bass guitar), Simone Zanchini (accordion), Ernst Reigsegar (cello), Mattias IA Eklundh (Guitar), Misrili Ahmet (dohollo, darbukka) and other stars shining in the global firmamanet.
AWARDS
As a 13 year old, he bagged the first prize for “Outstanding Merit” at an all India music competition. He has earned several awards, prizes and titles, notably Kanchi Kamakoti Peeta Asthana Vidwan (Court musician).
