Radhakrishna was
initiated into our priceless treasure- music at the tender age
of eight. Got interested in learning two allied streams, vocal
and violin. His father is adept in playing harmonium and played
a pivotal role in grooming Radhakrishna's musical career. He was
awarded first prize in the All India Violin Competition when he
was only thirteen. He also received the Government of India
senior Scholarship in Music. Chembai S.Ananthamani, Neyveli
Vimala Nagarajan, Ramanathapuram M.N.Ganesa Pillai and Violin
Wizard M.Chandrasekaran tapped and channelised his potential.
Long hours of practice, insatiable thirst to learn, Guru's
blessings and God's grace above all made him scale great
heights.
After the departure of C.S.Ananthamani, Radhakrishna
concentrated on Violin. "Sangita Kalanidhi" M.Chandrasekaran
honed his skills. Almost a decades' ssociation with his Guru
made him explore the art. Srimushnam Raja Rao the
Mrudangam Maestro is my godfather, declares Radhakrishna in a
voice choked with emotion. He plays regularly in Radio and
Television channels. Has accompanied the reigning monarchs of
Carnatic music. |
